When someone asks me what my go to junk food snack is, I would probably say it's any kind of (German) chocolate. Somehow something changes that during the colder months of the year and let's be honest - what smell makes you happier than the one of a freshly cut vanilla bean? That's right, none. I have read a while back that smelling vanilla aroma can be just as satisfying as eating something sweet. I guess that is true to some extent. However, I would always prefer to taste the vanilla after smelling it as well. And you can now as well - just try my recipe below and please let me know what you think about those amazing and crumbly vanilla crescents!
P.S. they would also make quite a sweet homemade gift for your loved ones.

For forming the perfect crescent I usually roll them into a ball first and then start to form a roll with more pressure on the outsides of the roll. This will form the pointy ends. When the form looks good and smooth I then form the crescents and put them on the baking sheet carefully - they break very easily. But if one does break you can just start over again.

If you make these cookies every year, you might want to try something different. I would suggest to start with the easiest way to do so - simply exchange the almonds for ground haselnuts, ground macadamia or walnuts. A different flavor but still oh so good! If that isn't enough mix up for you - how about adding a dash of cinnamon or cocoa powder to the mix? Just add a flavor of something you love and give it a try!
